Need A Fence Repair?
Today we had the great privilege of helping a customer in their time of need. Here at Cedar Mountain Fence Company, the majority of the work we do for customers throughout the year involves us installing new fences. But occasionally there are times when we get called to do a fence repair job. Depending on the needs of the customer and the type of fence they have, we determine if we are the best solution for the customers fence repair. If we feel that we are a good fit and have the fence materials the customer needs, then we offer to make the fence repair right away.
Our customer was hit by a bad storm and their fence broke apart. Literally the storm was so powerful that it cracked the fence posts that were holding up the fence panel. So a section of the fence completely fell down causing there to be about a 7’ gap in our customers fence.
This was a big problem for a variety of reasons, such as loss of security and privacy, but most importantly because this customer had a dog. They waited awhile before they decided to fix their fence, so for the last couple of months they have not been able to let their dog outside in the backyard without a leash. As you can imagine this was not a fun process during the winter months here in Illinois. The customer was finally fed up with going out in the cold with the dog every time it had to go to the bathroom.
Maybe I Can Repair the Fence Myself?
Before our customer decided to call Cedar Mountain Fence Company, he thought he was going to make the fence repair himself. He even went as far as starting to dig out the fence posts, only to realize the ground was frozen and in the end he hurt his back in the process. So after searching on online, the homeowner found Cedar Mountain Fence Company’s listing on Google, and noticed immediately that we had the highest ratings of any fence company in the area. This gave him confidence that we were a reputable fence company and most likely would be able to handle his fence repair project. So he gave us a call to get a price on the fence repair.
Repair Made The Same Week
The good news for him was that we are still in the slow season, so it made it very easy for us to come out and repair his fence in a timely manner. The customer called us on Monday and we were out on site by Friday of the same week. For those that don’t know, usually a customer would have to wait several weeks before a fence company could come out and make the repair.
No Easy Fence Repairs
Even a fence repair as simple as fixing 2 fence posts and rehanging a fence panel is quite a bit of work. Before we could make the necessary repairs to the fence, we had to first dig out the old fence posts, which were both set in concrete. Once the old fence posts were removed, we were able to install 2 brand new fence posts, which we also re-set in concrete. After the fence posts were firmly in place, we then proceeded to re-hang the old fence panel, which thankfully was not damaged during the storm. As you can see in the photos, the new fence posts are a different color than the stained fence, but the homeowner is going to stain the posts to match the fence as soon as the weather gets a little nicer.
Positive Online Review
Our customer was so happy overall with how we repaired his fence, that he gave us a positive Google review before we even left his house. This just further ads to the dozens of positive reviews we have online.

Plainfield Fence Installation
We are so excited to share this fence installation with you. We installed a fence in Plainfield, which happens to be the home of Cedar Mountain Fence Company. We install a lot of fences in Plainfield throughout the year, but this was our first fence installation of 2017. Being the first job of the year, it is always special to us. Its a sign that people are starting to think about buying fences again after a long and cold winter. It is also a reminder to us that the busy fence season is only a few short months away. Here at Cedar Mountain Fence Company, we have enjoyed a few months off during the winter, but we are ready to make 2017 our best year yet. If you are thinking about getting a fence installed this year and you want it sooner than later, we recommend that you get a fence estimate early, and secure your installation date before the busy season hits, which happens mid year.
Shadow Board Fence
Our customer in Plainfield selected a beautiful western red cedar fence to be installed in their backyard. As you can see in the photos, for this fence project we used a shadow board design. This is a unique fence design that has boards on both sides of the fence, but they are staggered. So if you look at it from an angle, you can kinda see through the fence, but when you look straight on, it appears to be solid fence construction. Its not a privacy fence in the traditional sense, but it does offer a certain level of privacy from your neighbors. If you live in Plainfield, you will want to check with your homeowners association to see if they have any rules or regulations about what type of fence you can install in your backyard.
Dog Eared Rolling Arch Fence
This fence is approximately 4’ feet high and is what we call a Dog Eared Rolling Arch design. That refers to the cut and style of the top of the fence. If you look closely at the individual fence pickets, you will see that the corners are cut off as part of this fence style. That is known in the fence industry as Dog Eared fence pickets. Also you will notice that the fence panel starts off at the post lower, then curves up towards the center of the fence panel. This creates a rolling look to the overall fence design. Based on the size of this backyard, this fence was approximately 170’ feet in total linear footage.
